Paying enterprise prices for a one-course desk

Leaving Jonas, Club Prophet, or ForeTees Without Losing the Shop

Heavy golf suites solve everything and cost like it. When to switch to a lighter tee sheet, POS, and Square stack - and what not to break.

You already know the stack

Jonas, Club Prophet, ForeTees - owners and management groups know these names because they have been writing the checks. The suites are capable. They are also heavy, priced for clubs that need every module, and slow to change when you only wanted a cleaner booker and a register that does not fight the sheet.

Switching is scary because the suite owns tee times, members, POS, and sometimes F&B. The fear is not “new software.” It is “Saturday morning with no sheet.”

What is actually broken

Listen for the same complaints across clubs:

  • Golfers will not finish online booking on mobile.
  • Staff workarounds beat the official POS workflow.
  • Card money lives in Square (or another processor) while the suite still bills like it owns payments.
  • You are overpaying for modules you turned off two seasons ago.

A lighter path that keeps Square

Many courses already settled card acceptance on Square. A lighter club product should lean into that - POS card and Terminal through Square, optional public prepay through Square, roster sync into Square Customers - instead of forcing a second merchant account.

Start with the tee sheet and public /book page so inventory and check-in are safe. Add counter POS, house accounts, and the member portal when the Club plan is the pitch. You do not have to migrate every historical module on day one.

How to de-risk the cutover

Run the new public booker in parallel for a quiet midweek. Train one starter and one shop lead on check-in and a house-account sale. Confirm Square sandbox or live keys before you advertise card at the counter. Keep a printed emergency grid for the first weekend - then retire it when the morning rush proves the desk.

The goal is not a feature checklist war with the old suite. It is a shop that moves without a second mortgage on software.
